Privacy policy

This policy explains what information CalculateMyTax receives when you use calculatemytax.uk and what we do with it. In short, the site does not track you, the calculators keep your figures in your browser, and we only receive personal data from you if you send us a message through the contact form or by email.

Who we are

CalculateMyTax runs the website calculatemytax.uk. If you have a question about this policy or about your personal data, email us at contact@calculatemytax.uk.

The figures you enter in our calculators

The rental income tax calculator and the rental yield calculator run entirely in your browser. The figures you type into them are not sent to CalculateMyTax and are not stored by the site.

If you use "Copy shareable link", your figures are written into the web address. Anyone you share that link with will see the same figures and result. You decide whether to create a link and who to send it to.

Cookies, analytics and tracking

We do not set any cookies. We do not use analytics, adverts, social media widgets or third-party tracking scripts, and we do not use your browser's local storage. The site does not load fonts or scripts from any third party.

Our cookie policy explains this in more detail.

Our hosting provider

The site is a static website published on GitHub Pages. To deliver and secure the site, GitHub may collect technical information, such as IP addresses, in its server logs. You can read how GitHub handles this information in the GitHub General Privacy Statement.

If you contact us

If you use the contact form, we receive your name, your email address, your phone number if you give it, the topic you choose and your message. The form is delivered to our inbox by FormSubmit (formsubmit.co), a service that turns form entries into emails, so FormSubmit processes your message in order to pass it on to us.

If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write in your message. Whichever way you contact us, we use your details only to reply to you.

We keep emails only as long as we need them to deal with your enquiry. We do not sell or share them.

Please do not email us your bank details, your National Insurance number, your Unique Taxpayer Reference or copies of tax documents. Our contact page explains what to include instead.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law, including the UK GDPR, you can:

  • ask us what personal data we hold about you
  • ask us to correct your personal data
  • ask us to delete your personal data

To make a request, email us at contact@calculatemytax.uk.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. When we do, we will change the date shown at the top of this page.
